Larry Joe Bird, born on December 7, 1956, in West Baden, Indiana, is an American former professional basketball player, coach, and executive. He played 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Boston Celtics, where he established himself as one of the greatest players in the game's history.

As a small forward and power forward, Bird possessed a unique combination of size, athleticism, and skill. He shot with great accuracy from both inside and outside the paint and was renowned for his clutch shooting. Throughout his career, Bird won three Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards, three NBA championships, and was named to the NBA's 50th and 75th Anniversary Teams.

Following his retirement as a player, Bird transitioned into coaching, leading the Indiana Pacers to the NBA Finals in 2000. In 2003, he was named the NBA's Coach of the Year. Later, as President of Basketball Operations for the Pacers, Bird was instrumental in building the team into a consistent contender, earning him the Executive of the Year award in 2012.
